Teaching and learning
We have recently launched 12 Cambridge School Communities in India and are delighted to see that this number is growing across South Asia. These communities allow Cambridge schools to interact with each other, share resources and best practice, raise concerns directly with a Cambridge representative, and come up with solutions to common issues.
Abha Adams, Advisor, Step by Step school in Noida, is Chair of the Cambridge School Community (Delhi-NCR) in North India. Principals, Cambridge coordinators and exams officers from 16 schools gathered at the community’s second meeting, held in February, at DPS International in New Delhi.
'The aim of the group is to build bridges between schools and give schools the opportunity to share concerns and recommendations with Cambridge' says Abha. 'In an hour and a half we decided on the structure and critically the terms of reference for this community. The group welcomes intensive professional development, not just focused on subjects, but also on pedagogy, training for school leaders, immersive strategies for new schools, and mentoring.
'It was heartening to see schools share best practice and resources, exchange ideas and make recommendations for the conduct of exams. Significantly, the community stated that all member schools should follow ethical practices when recruiting staff.'
The group will meet again in May at Ardee School, Gurugram. 'We look forward to moving ahead with commitment and clarity in order to create a supportive community and the best learning environment for our students', says Abha.
