Teaching and learning
In October 2016 we introduced on-screen versions of our Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint tests in Science as an alternative to the paper-based versions. On-screen versions of Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint tests in English will be introduced in May 2017.
The on-screen tests are an adaptation of the paper-based version for these two subjects. This means that teachers and students will already be familiar with their layout, content and structure. Take a look at our familiarization test using Firefox to see the different question types that appear in our on-screen tests.
If you’re interested in offering on-screen tests you can start by installing the software now and running practice tests so that your teachers and learners become familiar with the new mode of delivery. There is no charge to test the software – you only pay for live entries as you would with paper. We have complete on-screen practice tests available for both English and science. Additional subjects will be added when trialling is complete. Contact Lynda Bramwell for more information, including details of the IT support you will need so that you can check if your school is ready.
We will continue to offer paper-based versions of Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint tests. Therefore, the options available to schools in 2017 are:
