Why use CPSQ for teachers?
CPSQ helps teachers to understand and reflect on their own behaviour styles and needs. The results provide insight into how you can support your teachers, allowing you to make targeted interventions to help enhance your teachers’ professional development.
CPSQ for teachers has been mapped to both the Cambridge Teacher Standards and Cambridge Professional Development Qualifications (PDQs). The results of CPSQ can be used to support candidates as they progress through their Cambridge PDQ programme, encouraging a greater depth of reflection with their Cambridge PDQ mentor and in their portfolio of evidence.
Using the results of CPSQ with the Cambridge Teacher Standards can help you understand where your teachers might need additional support or professional development. The Standards and their associated resources can help teachers to be more self-evaluative in the areas highlighted by CPSQ.

The CPSQ report
To complete the assessment, teachers are shown behavioural statements and are asked to rate the extent to which these reflect typical behaviours, from ‘strongly agree’ to ‘strongly disagree’. If a respondent rates two or more statements equally, they are encouraged to reflect and rank which are ‘more…’ or ‘less like me’.
For each competency, a score is provided on a one to five scale. The higher a score, the more likely it is that current behaviours are effective and support progress. Within each competency, a person may have stronger and weaker areas, which are signposted in three possible feedback categories: Positive, Neutral and Improvement points.

Using your CPSQ report results
We are trialling materials to support the effective use of CPSQ. They are designed to be used alongside the CPSQ for teachers report. These resources are free to use and can be accessed by anyone. They can be used by the teacher, with their mentor, or as part of a group activity with other teachers taking CPSQ.
